Fundamentals of Management Sciences Course (MNGS)
This course introduces management science as the use of mathematical models and computing tools to inform real‐world decision making and boost organizational efficiency. Students learn core concepts of systems and information management, collect and analyze strategic data with software, and collaborate to present insights clearly. The curriculum covers project and operations management techniques—using CPM and PERT network models to plan and time projects—and decision‐making frameworks that combine managerial judgment with quantitative methods.
Traditional forecasting approaches, including time‐series analysis and regression, equip students to anticipate future conditions, while inventory and operations management methods provide practical tools for optimizing resources and guiding day‐to‐day decisions. Throughout, emphasis on conceptual thinking, teamwork, and effective communication prepares learners to apply these techniques across diverse business contexts.

Learning Objectives for Fundamentals of Marketing & Research Course
Building on this foundation, students apply popular network models and network flow techniques to a variety of problems, create and follow Gantt and PERT charts, and utilize decision‐making components in operations management. They also conduct inventory analyses across manufacturing stages and forecast demand over short-, medium-, and long-range time horizons.
Finally, learners identify problems suited to linear programming, formulate them as mathematical models, and solve them using established techniques and PC software. They distinguish between integer and continuous linear programming forms and develop teamwork and collaboration skills to analyze issues and implement solutions effectively.
