The Business Foundations 215 program emphasizes the long-standing principle of “Doing the Basics Best.” The business courses in the Business Foundations 215 program focus on cutting-edge firsts, up-to-date issues that shape today’s business world using experiential learning that helps students to build a solid foundation of business knowledge and skills. Students will learn the essentials for Canadian Business, Organizational Behaviour, Marketing and Business communications. These courses work together to provide a seamless coverage of vital knowledge, helping students to understand the concepts behind best practices in business while they develop and refine their skills to meet employer expectation in business today.
- Explain the essentials of Canadian Business from the perspective of the employee, the employer (boss), the consumer and the investor.
- Create small Business opportunities and describe accounting and financial requirements
- Define the key elements making up the discipline of OB (organizational behaviour) and explain their significance to the Canadian workplace.
- Demonstrate effective marketing skills that focus on the Canadian consumer
- Demonstrate effective oral and basic written business communication using various mediums
Upon completion of the entire course, students may be able to and not limited to obtaining a job in the Following NOC classification categories:
- General office support workers
- Receptionists
- For you to graduate from the course you will need to have achieved a minimum of 60% alongside successfully completing your Work Experience.
- Another requirement is maintaining a minimum of 80% attendance while completing all exams, quizzes, and any other assignments.
- Your participation in class discussion and activities is pivotal for a successful run of the course.
- You will also take part in an assigned co-op report that will be submitted one-week after the completion of your co-op placement and you must achieve a Satisfactory Grade (S) to receive your formal diploma.

This program has been approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.
- Duration: 1344 hrs
- Applicants must be 19 years of age or older
- Proof of Canadian citizens or permanent residents for domestic students;
- Completion of high school and/or commencement of post-secondary studies;
- 400 hours of work experience (with proof of employment) OR, and admission test with a passing exam score.
- Admission test and oral interview with a passing score for international students.
- Completed application form to the College.
- Proof of medical insurance.
- Paid non-refundable enrollment and registration fee.
- Signed registration agreement form.
- In lieu of our admissions test, students may submit test scores from the following: TOEFL (paper based): 537; TOEFL (IBT): 75; IELTS: 6; LPI Level 4 with essay 25; TOEIC: 700 or has successfully reached the Upper Intermediate Level at SELC Language Centre.
